Aerojet Rocketdyne offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles ranging from missile defense to advanced hypersonic propulsion. These products have been used in a wide variety of government and commercial applications, including the main engines for the Space Shuttle, Atlas and Delta launch vehicles, and High Altitude Defense Systems.
We are seeking an EDM Operator - 2nd shift . This position may be filled in first or second shift depending on need. This position will be located at our facility in West Palm Beach, Florida .

This job will be filled at the level of the identified candidate.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Setup and perform machining operations to produce development hardware, tools, and other items on ram or wire electrical discharge machines (EDM), and a variety of machine tools that support tooling for those machines.
Under direction of higher grade operators, working lead, or supervisor, work from drawings, WI, and detailed instructions, and verbal instructions to plan, layout and perform basic program routines and perform basic slotting, boring, grooving, form cutting, and other similar operations on development hardware and tools.
Plan setup, using specified holding fixture or selecting clamps, blocks, collets, and other standard holding devices from available supply.
Work in conjunction with programmers or as directed to prove out and debug programs, overriding when appropriate to correct errors or enhance operations. Provide feedback to CNC programmer regarding programming corrections and recommended changes.
Check work visually and with precision measuring instruments against specifications, and determine corrective action and preventive action on any parts that deviate from acceptable limits.
Apply machines to check dimensions and locations of less involved partial or fully completed parts and assemblies when necessary.
Operate hoists, lifting devices, and fork lift truck as required.
Maintain necessary tools, materials, and/or supplies to ensure steady workflow, as well as maintain a neat and clean work area.
Follow proper maintenance at operator level of machining equipment to ensure proper operation and limit down time.
Comply with environmental/safety regulations and programs requirements to ensure safe working conditions and to preserve a healthy environment. Comply with company quality and continuous improvement initiatives. Keep current with training certifications for compliance with governmental and company regulations.
May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications for assigned area.
Maintain reports, documentation, and logs as required.
May perform advance EDM operations, depending on level at which the position is filled.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required: 0-4 years of directly related experience. 2-3 years trade school highly desirable. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Prior experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus.
Requires well-rounded knowledge of applied mathematics including, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and handbook formulae to read and interpret drawings, specifications and complicated sketches. Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate through manufacturing and quality systems.
Requires knowledge of: basic understanding of electricity applicable to EDM; machinability of a wide variety of materials and machine shop practices; and tooling, measuring instruments, holding device methods, procedures, and operating sequences; basic computer skills to complete electronic record keeping and reporting. Must be able to configure electrodes to adequately machine hardware/tooling to meet all required specifications.
Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee will need to work near moving mechanical parts and in loud working conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, chemicals or airborne particles. The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions).
