We are seeking a Rocket Motor Quality Engineer to join our growing site near Culpeper, in rural Orange County, Virginia (1.5 hours from Washington DC). Our robust relocation program is available for this position.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Rocket Motor Quality Engineers support space and defense propulsion programs, including planning and implementing methods to ensure customer specifications and engineering requirements are effectively met. Under general direction, performs quality engineering assignments requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.
50% - Provides innovative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical challenges, involving the conventional utilization of quality engineering techniques. Conceives and plans projects involving the development of new methods of dimensional inspection objectives. Reviews engineering designs and specifications for translation into inspection verification methods. Develops and applies new and advanced methods to meet new or unusual requirements. Keeps current within area of specialty in support of global production and R & D projects.
20% - Reviews manufacturing process planning to ensure compliance with drawing, specification and contractual requirements. Provides technical guidance to less senior quality engineers, inspection, manufacturing and test personnel.
10% - Develops, implements and reviews corrective action and process improvements by bench marking practices.
10% - Performs failure mode effect analysis of product design disclosure documents and specifications, utilizing inspection analysis tools and six sigma principles.
10% - Determines gage and instrumentation adequacy, gage R & R studies to determine process capabilities, needs and future usage.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree preferably in Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering plus at least two (2) years of related technical experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Successful candidates should be detail-oriented, experienced in conducting root cause analysis and recommending data-driven corrective actions.
CQE or LEAN / Six Sigma certifications strongly desired.
Aerospace industry experience is highly desired.
Experience working with and around chemicals and/or explosives is also desirable.
Working with electrical and mechanical assemblies is a plus.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
