Overview
Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader that provides propulsion systems and energetics to space and defense customers.Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Avionics Engineer (Electrical Engineer) to join our facility near Culpeper, in beautiful, rural Orange County, Virginia (1.5 hours from Washington, DC).
This position is a key part of Aerojet Rocketdyne's Avionics Engineering and will be responsible for performing day-to-day engineering activities for our Defense Business Unit programs. In this role, you will work directly with engineers and technical experts across various centers of excellence and in close collaboration with Program Managers and Chief Engineers.

We are seeking an Electrical/Electronic Engineer to support Avionics Electrical Test Equipment Design team at our Culpeper, VA facility. The candidate will assist the team with the design process of manual and automated test sets.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
This position may require occasional overtime and travel as required to meet critical schedule milestones.
100% - Support of live rocket engine testing and below job functions listed below.
Troubleshoot electrical continuity problems, etc. on flight hardware and test equipment
Coordinate issue responses with on-site Operations personnel and remote hardware engineers
Perform design analysis and test of Avionics subsystems and components (e.g.; controllers, actuators, pressure sensors, initiation systems, thermal batteries, etc.)
Perform data analysis and generate test scripts in support of actuator testing
Support component selection , circuit design, schematic capture and PCB design
Support rocket motor production and test facilities consisting of (but not limited to):
Support Avionics design tasks consisting of (but not limited to):
Notional percentage – core responsibilities are at the Virginia Operations campus.
Requirements
Requires Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and two (2) or more years of experience in the design of test equipment consoles/racks for electrical applications.
Design Integration and test of Digital and Analog circuits.
Demonstrated experience reviewing engineering specifications, schematics and drawings with the ability to translate customer driven requirements into specifications.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to coordinate and collaborate with local/on-site teams, as well as teams at other sites.
Use of engineering application tools such as Altium, LtSpice, PSPICE, etc.
Programming in Python, C++, MATLAB.
Must be able for occational travel to other locations outside of Culpeper, VA.to meet critical schedule milestones.
Desired:
Design and test experience in Analog and Digital Circuits.
Experience with the usage of test instruments, National Instruments (NI), Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Wave form Generators, Multiplexers, Logic Analyzers, Data Acquisition Systems, etc.
Previously worked in the Aerospace and Defense Industries and have process knowledge.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
