Aerojet Rocketdyne is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in Canoga Park, CA.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

60% The successful individual will focus on the continued implementation of process improvements Enterprise-wide including advances in digital factory technology. Specific areas of oversight are electronic planning using Delmia, bar coding, use of RFID, Facility Monitoring System (FMS), Visual Planning (VP) and other initiatives to implement digital technology into the Aerojet Rocketdyne Operations. Candidate must have a vision of the digital future and drive the Enterprise to this vision to improve quality, lower costs and eliminate manual transactions.

15% Provide oversight and interact with the operating staff of engineers, supervisors, and operators on a daily basis to ensure all goals are met

10% Plan and coordinate integrated schedules, organizational manpower resources and coordination of resources for the support of process improvements (electronic planning, FMS, VP, RFID, etc.) and their interface to production programs and contractual requirements. Interface directly with other Aerojet organizations to ensure that the production program teams have the support needed to meet production demands. Support Aerojet Rocketdyne sites in the implementation of digital technology and improvement

5% Submit and administer operational budgets. Develop proactive action plans and escalate when operating requirements/constraints and allocated budgets are inconsistent.

5% Support Operations level safety and quality meetings, conduct monthly safety meetings and assure that organizational procedures and daily operating practices are compliant with EH&S procedures, regulatory requirements and P&MA procedures.

5% Ensure employees working in facilities and on processes are provided the appropriate Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 training required to safely and correctly perform assigned tasks. Provide training to Aerojet Rocketdyne personnel as required for the areas of digital factory technology as described above.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated supervisory skills including the ability to plan and coordinate the activities of assigned organization.

  • Ability to provide technical and administrative leadership to accomplish organization goals and commitments.

  • Requires a detailed knowledge of the manufacturing processes and the use of digital technologies to improve these processes including electronic planning, bar coding/RFID, FMS, VP

  • Demonstrated background in the use of 6 sigma and/or lean manufacturing tools and techniques and an ability to implement these tools in the daily operation of assigned organization.

  • Must be able to travel to Aerojet Rocketdyne sites to assist in the implementation of the digital technology improvements – typical travel 6-8 days per month.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Pay range for this position:

144,500 - 212,166 per year
