Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Sr. Director of Human Resources for our Space Business Unit, headquartered in Canoga Park, CA.

This position is responsible for the strategic leadership of human resources to support business and organizational objectives for Aerojet Rocketdyne's Space Business Unit.

This role may be based at any of our Space operating sites, including Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area), Redmond, WA (Seattle area), West Palm Beach, FL or Sacramento, CA. Work may be performed on site or hybrid remote and will require frequent travel to our operating sites.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

35% - Serve as a strategic advisor and direct partner to the Sr. Vice President for the Space Business Unit and the broader Space Business Unit leadership team. Create value for the business by orchestrating HR solutions that result in winning outcomes for the business while balancing goals of the Space business unit with the broader interest of the enterprise. Deliver HR initiatives to drive alignment & engagement, talent acquisition, development and retention, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement in support of the long range strategic plan and annual operating plan (AOP).

25% - Provide proactive leadership, guidance and support across the HR function and for HR direct reports, including HR Business Partners directly supporting Space programs and site-based HR team members supporting business unit operating locations. The Sr Director will have direct responsibility for business-focused HR initiatives and leadership of the HR site-based team members at Space BU sites across the United States.

25% - Develops and ensures application of HR strategic processes and programs to align with organizational needs and business objectives across Space programs and Space operating sites. Areas include:

  • Strategic Workforce planning

  • Talent Management and succession planning

  • Employee attraction and retention

  • Labor relations

  • Employee relations and investigations

  • Compensation and salary planning

  • Employee Learning & Development

  • Talent acquisition

  • Resource allocation

  • Inclusion, Diversity and Engagement

  • Business metrics and KPIs

15% - Serve as a key member of the HR leadership team (HRLT) in the development and execution of HR strategic and annual operating plan. Serve as the eyes and ears for the HRLT representing the Space Business Unit.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or a related discipline and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of progressive experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a senior HR management role

  • Demonstrated success in employing agile and critical thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded and informed by evidence to design and execute expert HR solutions that solve business problems at the pace of the business

  • Track record of developing and executing plans using LEAN principles or continuous improvement systems and tools to drive key HR performance metrics to deliver sustainable business outcomes

  • Candidate must have experience leading teams and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrated track record of positive employee relationships

  • Must possess prior HR experience providing coaching to senior leaders

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in driving data-focused decision making and planning

  • Demonstrated ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with company policies, procedures, regulations and legal governance

  • Solid knowledge of HR laws and regulations

  • Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or MBA a plus

  • SHRM SCP/CP or HRCI PHR/SPHR Certification is a plus

  • Labor relations experience to include bargaining agreement management and/or arbitration

  • Leadership of a geographically dispersed team

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Pay range for this position:

201,500 - 307,833 per year
