We are seeking a Manager to lead a high performance engineering team responsible for Electro-Mechanical Packaging supporting both Space and Defense Business Units. Team is responsible for turning electrical/electronic & test equipment designs into physical product designs that meet environmental requirements, by creating detail product definition working with the Space and Defense Electrical design team along with specialists from other engineering disciplines. Task will include managing a team to perform schematic capture and printed wiring assembly design, electrical/electronic packaging designs for harsh environments, design of complex flight harnesses, and test support equipment design. Experience with the mechanical development of electronics for extreme environment application required. Experience with the full development life cycle from proposal through qualification a plus. Knowledge/experience with design complications due to extreme temperature, high vibration, high shock, EMI/EMC, and high radiation environments a plus. Design experience with Altium Creo, and Creo Cabling a plus. Familiar with Industry Standards for circuit board and electro-mechanical design a must. Knowledge or Aerojet Rocketdyne drawings practices a plus.

Experience building teams, recruiting, mentoring, and engineering talent development is necessary. A coaching/mentoring focus highly desirable.

Strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and lean development is desirable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 9 years progressive experience in design for extreme environments required. Masters degree in a related field desirable.

  • Experience managing people required

  • Experience with mechanical development of electronics for extreme environment application required.

  • Experience with Altium, Creo and/or Creo Cabling is desired.

  • Experience building teams, recruiting, mentoring, and talent development highly desired.

  • Coaching/mentoring focus highly desired.

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance required

  • Ability to travel (less than 10%) required

Must be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Pay range for this position:

120,500 - 177,166 per year
