Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Associate Engineer, Project and Component Engineering for our Los Angeles, CA office.
The successful candidate will support development, qualification, fabrication and test of and production of propulsion system valve and actuator hardware.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Under guidance of senior staff, the Associate Engineer performs entry-level professional engineering assignments following established policies. The position requires some independent professional judgment and application of engineering principles, theories and concepts.
35% - Researches, develops and supports fabrication of rocket engine components using engineering and scientific principles.
35% - Coordinates product development from ideas through product life cycle.
20% - Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities.
10% - Interfaces with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.
Requirements
A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline is required.Coursework and knowledge in the following areas are preferred: thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials, electrical circuits, plasma physics, and rocket engine performance analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required. Prefer experience with MATLAB, engineering analysis software packages, or CAD packages. Experience with laboratory hardware, mechanical assembly, or test is a plus. Must have experience working in a team environment and excellent written and verbal skills.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Pay range for this position:
60,500 - 84,500 per year
