This position is for an Associate Avionics Systems Engineer at our Los Angeles, CA facility. The candidate will work directly with and under supervision of Senior Electrical Systems and Design Engineers contributing to realization of state-of-the-art Space Power Electronics Systems. The position requires understanding of Electrical Engineering design principles with keen interest in applying the understanding of the basic scientific principles and concepts for design and synthesis of Avionics products for aerospace industry. Working in a team environment and following established policies and procedures the candidate will be contributing in the following areas:
Transformation of the Customer/stakeholder expectations into a problem definition and a complete set of technical requirements at system, subsystem and component levels.
Defining product breakdown structure and establishing requirements process flow for the system under development.
Support formulation of product development lifecycle strategies consisting of requirements capture, requirement management and flowdown, preliminary design, critical design, product realization, design verification testing, system integration, qualification and certification. Ensure that design solution complies with stakeholder requirements and expectations.
Anticipate technical risk, define mitigation plans, and stay abreast of technology advancement.
On an as needed basis support the Avionics Engineering for generation of technical proposals.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Working under direct supervision:
40% - Perform system design requirements and performance analysis, system trade studies, and provide system design solutions/concepts.
40% - Generate systems requirements document(s), test documents and validation and verification cases and procedures to ensure compliance with and traceability to stakeholder requirements.
15% - Provide support, generate and conduct technical design reviews and
5% - Travel to other Aerojet Rocketdyne, customer or supplier sites for design reviews and technical interface meetings.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in use of computer aided design and analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions). While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. The candidate may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Pay range for this position:
60,500 - 84,500 per year
