Overview
Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) is seeking a student intern to support its Washington Operations organization located in Arlington, VA . Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to the space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armament sectors in support of domestic and international markets.
Washington Operations conducts a variety of activities and outreach to Executive Branch officials, Members of Congress and their staffs, and other related industry associations and think tanks to ensure AR’s interests are considered in Federal policy and funding decisions. Internships at AR provide both an opportunity and challenge for students to enhance their professional skills to include: government/civics, public policy advocacy and outreach, critical thinking abilities, and communication skills.
A successful student-candidate will be a self-starter with a strong interest public policy, government, and aerospace and defense.
Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Assist with congressional hearing coverage and reporting out related summaries in support of the Defense and Space Business Units.
Assist with monitoring and reporting out Defense and NASA Committee and Subcommittee mark ups of FY23 bill impacts of same to Defense and Space Business Unit programs.
Conduct and assist with relevant research in support of the GR team that will also help learn how Washington works.
Requirements
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Business, Political Science, Government & Political Affairs (or similar major) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
An interest in issues related to public policy affecting the aerospace and defense sectors.
Interest/experience in the Legislative and Executive branches of government.
Experience creating and maintaining databases.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
High technical proficiency (MS Office Suite, etc.)
Self-motivated, team-oriented with a solid track record of success.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
